Commercial & Industrial Solar

Structural certifications for C&I rooftop solar installations nationwide.

C&I Solar Certifications

Commercial and industrial solar installations present structural challenges that go well beyond residential work. Larger arrays, diverse roof types, and heavier loading conditions all demand a more rigorous engineering analysis.

Our team has extensive experience certifying rooftop PV systems on all types of commercial structures. We provide PE-stamped structural analysis reports and certification letters in all 50 states, giving AHJs exactly the documentation they need to issue your permit.

Building Types We Certify

We have reviewed rooftop solar installations on every type of commercial building.

Warehouses & Distribution Centers

Large flat-roof facilities with long-span steel framing. We verify that existing structural members can carry the added dead load and wind uplift from the array.

Office & Retail Buildings

Corporate campuses, big box retail, and strip malls. We assess existing roof capacity and provide the stamped documentation your permit requires.

Schools, Hospitals & Municipal

Public and institutional buildings often have strict permitting requirements. We deliver thorough structural analysis that satisfies even the most demanding AHJs.

Every Roof Type, Every Attachment Method

Membrane Roofs & Ballasted Systems

TPO, EPDM, and PVC membrane roofs often require ballasted racking systems to avoid penetrations and preserve warranty coverage. Ballasted systems add significant dead load to the structure, and wind uplift at roof edges and corners can be substantial.

We perform complete load path analysis - tracing the added weight and wind forces from the array through the deck, purlins, beams, columns, and down to the foundation - to confirm the building can handle it.

Standing Seam Metal & Steel Deck

Standing seam metal roofs use clamp-on attachment systems that avoid roof penetrations but require verification of seam engagement capacity. Steel deck systems allow direct mechanical attachment, but deck gauge and span must be confirmed.

We analyze attachment loads per ASCE 7 wind provisions, accounting for the higher pressures at edge and corner zones that often govern the design.

What We Deliver

Complete structural documentation for your C&I solar permit package.

Structural Analysis Reports

Detailed load analysis per IBC and ASCE 7, documenting existing structural capacity against proposed solar loading. We cover gravity, wind uplift, snow drift interaction, and seismic considerations where applicable.

PE-Stamped Certifications

Formal PE Letters and stamped drawings bearing the seal of a licensed Professional Engineer in the project's state. We provide wet-stamped physical copies when the AHJ requires them, shipped directly to your office.

Reinforcement Design

When a building's existing structure cannot support the proposed array without modification, we design reinforcement solutions - sistering joists, adding columns or bracing - so your project can move forward.

AHJ Coordination

We work directly with the jurisdiction when questions arise during plan review, resolving comments quickly so your project stays on schedule. Our experience with hundreds of AHJs nationwide means we know what each one expects.
